The wall is located beside the historical Iditarod Trail in Knik, Alaska.
The displayed names represent people from various parts of the world, from all walks of life.
Some of these folks whose names are here, have left us, but they leave us their name
and the good memories.
The wall also contains the names of beloved pets
which various people have requested to have remembered.
The names of various schools have also been etched upon the wall.
The wall does not represent the support of any one individual
or event, but it's simply the collection of a lot of good names which represent a lot of good people, good pets and good schools!
You are always welcome to visit the Alaskan Wall and the gardens which surround it.
One's name represents much, and here in Alaska on this tiny patch of forested area near the coastal beach of Cook Inlet, this wall serves testament to the lives of many!

The Alaskan Wall has been in existence since September of 2001. The wall is
an innovative way for individuals around the world to recognize themselves,
their family members, friends and pets.
The wall is situated in Knik, Alaska and is next to the National Historic
Iditarod Trail. The Iditarod Trail runs from Seward in the South to Nome in
the Northwest, and is a winter trail that connects various Native Alaskan
villages. It became a major route for the settlement of villages during the
gold rush-era. Dog teams were used to transport US Mail, medical supplies,
gold and various other supplies from village to village on this trail. It
remains a popular trail in modern-day Alaska for thousands of people and is
still used for recreation, subsistence hunting and inter-village travel.
To date, more than 300 names are included on the wall. The wall serves as a
memorial to the past and present. By submitting a name through this site you
will have that name engraved on an eight-foot long weatherproofed wooden
plaque with two-inch lettering. Each name is intended to remain beside the
trail in Alaska indefinitely.
